Exiting the Airport keep to the right.
Take highway 307 South; the sign reads,
CHETUMAL and takes you to all points south.
Since it is the only highway that runs north
and south, you can't miss it.
There are gas stations on the way to
Tankah Bay at Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen,
Puerto Aventuras and Xpu-Ha.
Interests you pass on your way:
Puerto Morelos
Playa del Carmen
X-caret
Puerto Aventuras
Xpu-Ha
Akumal
Xel-ha
Soliman Bay
About 8 kilometers (not miles) after Xel-Ha (approx. 1 hour south of the airport),
there is a large over head road sign, stating “Blue Sky 500 meters.”
At that 500 mark is another large overhead sign stating “Casa Cenote Tankah Tres”.
DO NOT Turn left here. The new highway is just being completed and they put up
a curb so you can no longer turn directly onto our road there. Continue down the
highway to the “Dreams Hotel”. There is a left turning lane to use here.
Turn left into Dreams and immediately turn left again onto the new part of the highway
and double back to the Casa Cenote Tankah Tres Road. Blue Sky Hotel Restaurant
and Bar a large sign that is a great land mark on where to turn to Tankah Bay.
Turn onto the dirt road and continue about (1 Kilometre taking you towards the ocean).
At the dead-end, turn left and Blue Sky is also about a Kilometre.
Blue Sky Hotel is just past Casa Cenote.
If you end up in Tulum – you missed the turn off on the
main highway to Blue Sky –
So turn around and go back about 3 miles until you
find " Dreams Hotel" sign.
Beware when turning left from the highway.
If there is a special lane provided do as you normally
would but look behind making sure traffic is
clear before you turn. At other times when making
a left hand turn from the highway in more
obscure locations ALWAYS check your rear view mirror first!
It is customary to pull off the road
to your RIGHT, put your left blinker or emergency flashers on
and wait for traffic to clear. With no
one else in either direction make your left turn. ------
BEWARE on your drive south from the
airport..... At Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen
there are cement medians that divide the
highway. These are marked by reflectors in the road.
Please be careful not to hit them.
